About Kathy Nesmith Bascom
Kathy Nesmith Bascom is a long-time resident of Iowa. She currently resides in Dubuque, IA. She is the President and founder of Nesmith Tax & Accounting Services, established in 2005. She holds both an MBA and a BS in Accounting. Kathy is a member of NABA (National Association of Black Accountants). She has 25 years of experience in the accounting and finance field.
Kathy has over 20 years of accounting and auditing (domestically and internationally) at a Fortune 100 company along with 15 years in tax preparation. She completes the annual IRS tax preparation program to certify her as an authorized IRS e-file Provider.
She has provided tax and accounting service for 15 years to a long list of clients, from individuals, daycare providers, churches, dog breeders, specialty product producers, and the list goes on. Kathy also provides financial advice to a vast array of clients and assists with financial literacy. She holds herself to the strict confidentiality measures, as prescribed by Internal Revenue Code §6103, ensuring her client’s data is maintained and kept strictly confidential.
Kathy has been in community service for more than 30 years. She has served in the VITA program, providing tax preparation services to seniors, presenting financial workshops to help break down stereotypes and systemic issues regarding poverty, helped improve credit scores and home ownership. She continues to serve her community by modeling social responsibility, through her volunteer efforts.
